Ship Cedarbank Aground Fire Destroys Cargo At Sea
The coal ship Cedarbank began the voyage from Newcastle in March and burned heavily by June 20. After attempts to fight the fire failed, part of the cargo was jettisoned and water pumped into the holds. Explosions occurred on June 16 as flames spread, forcing the crew to abandon quarters. Beached cargo flooded, port reached safely. Also noted are local injuries and a typhoid case cured by faith healing. the latter prompts debate on medical versus religious remedies.

Death Came First and a Racket Store Opens
The Spokane Review reports letters from Washington D C addressed to the late Judge William C Langford regarding a Waterville land office receivership. The documents arrived too late, were kept by friends, and Langford had died about three months earlier. M E Clark & Son have opened a Racket Store in the Clark building on Third Street.
