Forest ranger's wife saves child in river crossing
Mrs Baker, wife of the forest ranger, and her three year old were swept from a saddle horse while fording a rising river above Bingham Springs after a day at John Thompson ranch. Mr Griggs stepped in and Mrs Griggs helped pull them to safety ashore.

Amos Shick Pioneer of 77 Dies at 81 in City
Amos Shick pioneer of 77 and Civil War veteran died at his home Saturday April 19 1915 at age 81 years five months and 19 days. He survived his wife a son Arthur and daughter Mrs Z F Lockwood. Funeral service was held at his home Sunday afternoon by Pastor A Mackenzie Meldrum. Born October 1 1834 in Pennsylvania he moved to Minnesota at 25 and later to Nobri before homesteading northwest of Athena in 1877. He served in Company A and Nebraska Cavalry for fourteen months and was married November 9 1867 to Mattha J Bender.
