Curtis to Erect 60 by 120 Foot Lumber Yard on Main Street

Athena Lumber Co announces a new 60 by 120 foot building on the south side of Main Street west of Second, with 400000 feet capacity, 17 foot walls, a 24 foot front, a 16 foot central driveway, double-decked compartments, two skylights, and a front office and store room. The move will occur after completion, and railroad work on the Meadows extension toward Thunder Mountain will start when snow clears. Alfred S. Moody in Confidence on Two-Thirds Delegates Bid

Portland reports Malcolm Moody traveling from Eastern Oregon claiming he will secure two-thirds of eastern delegates to influence the Multnomah bloc. With 184 total delegates and 93 needed, Moody seeks 70 plus eastern votes to enter the convention, while local leaders doubt his support and expect Multnomah to vote solidly with state instructions.

Council rejects Pacific Homestead ad plan 8 to 2 vote

The city council voted 8 to 2 to reject the Pacific Homestead advertising proposal. The plan would have funded a 45 000 copy special edition for eastern distribution with rates at 2 per inch or 100 per page, plus 100 extra copies to the town.

Boy Falls From Elevator Platform at Freewater

In Freewater on April 4 about 10 o clock a boy named John R Reynolds aged about 12 was killed instantly in a stairwell of the old Pacific Coast elevator opposite the O R & N depot. He and two companions were trying to catch pigeons when he ran over the side and plunged over forty feet to the floor below. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Charles H Reynolds of the Freewater hotel.

Revival of mail and stage line to Lewiston announced

Officials plan a revived Pomeroy to Lewiston mail route, 36 miles via Pataha City Valentine Alpowa Silcott Clarkston, opening May 9. Service will run six days weekly, 5:20 am from Pomeroy arriving Lewiston 1:00 pm, return at 9:30 am arriving Pomeroy by 6:00 pm.

Drowned Man in Umatilla River After Wagon Capsize

Tivis H. McBroom drowned when his wagon cap sized in the Umatilla River at Pendleton after driving a horse into the stream at Lilleth Street ford. The horse tangled and rolled with the current, striking McBroom and injuring his head before the body was found downstream two and a half miles below the city.

Athena Public School Wins Season Opener at Adama

In a Saturday afternoon game in Athena, star pitcher David Stone led the Athena public school to a 14 busting victory with four hits and four runs while Adama’s Hite struck out eight. Errors by Adams aided Athena’s score as Blake contributed four at bats with two runs.
