Inland Empire Retail Lumbermen's Association Formed
J A Borie of Pendleton is named president and H H Curtis of Athena secretary of a newly organized Inland Empire Retail Lumbermen's association. Fifteen dealers from Walla Walla Pendleton Athena Milton Freewater Waitsburg and Pomeroy attended a preliminary meeting in Pendleton about ten days ago. The group aims to create a mutual information bureau to shield retail dealers from direct competition by retailers manufacturers and wholesalers.

Florida husband trails wife through Athena mystery
A Florida man pursued his wife who fled from his home, locating her near Athena. While he worked on a nearby farm, she packed and left with unknown plans. Finley, called Alligator, fled after a shooting incident when Roberts opened fire on Deputy Sheriff Nave. Roberts was wounded and Finley vanished.

WHEAT BURNED INTO THREE CAYUSE WAREHOUSES Destroyed
A Monday fire at Cayuse Station destroyed three warehouses containing about 18 000 bushels of wheat and 8 500 sacks of barley plus other grain. Total loss estimated around 20 000 dollars. Strong winds and lack of water protection hampered efforts to save the buildings and nearby homes. The Pacific Coast Elevator, Interior Warehouse, and Kerr Gifford firms housed seed grain and farmers' stock. Assessor Strain proposes real estate reassessment at one third value, impacting railroad property as well. District 11 report notes 20 days taught, 21 students enrolled, and a roll of honor. General John H Stevens, 7, dies in La Grande.
