Normal Will Finish Year At Eastern Oregon State Normal
The Eastern Oregon State Normal School announces earlier year end with Baccalaureate May 23 and commencement May 25. The state normal board and faculty vote to pay 3000 toward this year’s expenses and provide payroll funding via the state treasurer. Major Gorno yer Indian Fighter Dies in Oregon Home
Major Cornoyer aged 88 died at his home south of the city after years of illness. A pioneer of Oregon, he served in the Rogue River Indian War as a captain and later as a major with volunteers. A pastor led a movement to start a free public reading room in Athena after a sermon on Practical Christianity. The venue will occupy Main Street, with a front reading area offering free magazines and publications and a back room for tables and wholesome games.
