Pioneer orchardist John J. Intfen plans an expansive new apple orchard in Atchison County, potentially in the Oak Mills area if roads improve. About 00 acres at 40 trees per acre would grow 4000 two year old trees, mostly Jonathan York Imperial Delicious and Winesap, aiming as one of the region’s largest orchards. Death claims Mrs Bartholow at 90 in Atchison home
Mrs. Bartholow 90 died Saturday afternoon at her daughter Mrs Walter G Deitzel home after a long illness. Born February 21 1837 in Arrowrock Missouri she married Theodore Bartholow and lived in Atchison St Louis and elsewhere before settling back. Survived by daughters Virginia Drury Louise Beigle and Russell N Bartholow plus three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral Monday at 10 from Mrs Virginia Drory home with Rev Kellison in charge burial at Mt Vernon cemetery.

Four railroads Missouri Pacific Santa Fe Burlington and Rock Island are asked to join Atchison and St Joseph in a three cornered agreement to purchase the Missouri river bridge from Attchison Eastern Bridge Co. The plan would cost about 6300 060 and reduce annual payments from 120 000 to around 60 000 with potential to drop toward 80 000 for operation and maintenance.
