Atchison is abuzz as its oldest resident George Greenwalt born June 1 1829 in Ohio turns 100. A carpenter millwright and farmer, he worked in Edington Chicago Iowa and Michigan before settling in Atchison. Neighbors plan a basket supper at 609 Spring Street to mark the milestone with family and friends.

Former Bendena Youth Marion Barrow Dies at 20
Marion Edward Barrow, 20, formerly of Bendena, died at 7 p.m. in Kansas City General Hospital Leeds after a four month illness. Born July 27, 1908 near Doniphan, he grew up nearby and graduated Bendena High School in 1926. He worked at Tootle Lacy Bank in St Joseph, then in Kansas City before a summer in North Dakota fields. Survived by parents J J Barrow and siblings Ray Francis Junior Helen Emily, his body was taken to Atchison for funeral at 2:30 p.m. from Stanton Chapel with Rev M O Kellison officiating. Pallbearers were Bendena classmates. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery Atchison.
