No Crops This Year as Flooded Bottom Land Repeats
From Tuesday's Daily the Missouri river is falling slowly but remains above the high water mark. Mud lake bottoms are again under water two weeks after the flood, preventing late corn planting. June rise may threaten further, unless the river falls faster. Community notices include engagements, funerals, visits, and local chores, with various residents traveling or hosting events in Leavenworth and nearby towns.

Train Ruling Not Clear in Long Train Case
The Kansas public service commission’s Saturday decision on the long train case is described as a dog fall by some observers, with findings advising railroads to issue within ninety days clear rifles and regulations for signaling. The ruling focuses on safety precautions and signals, while rail workers contend long freight trains heighten hazard and rear-end signaling is hard to read on 100-car or longer trains.
