Decision boosts to industries in this area

The Interstate Commerce Commission announced a ruling that increases import iron and steel rates from Houston to the Southwest while reducing rates from Missouri Valley centers. Local manufacturers, including Locomotive Finished Material Co., expect broad sector benefits though direct impact on the company is limited. The decision aims to encourage the steel and iron industry regionwide, countering European competition through lower local carload rates and higher long-haul costs.
