Hon R R Hitt Passes Away After Quarter Century in Congress
The death of Hon Robert Roberts Hitt, long time representative of Illinois thirteenth district, was reported from Narragansett Pier Rhode Island where he died of heart disease. Born 1834 in Urbana Ohio he served as Paris secretary of legation then assistant secretary of state before his election to Congress in 1882. He led the foreign affairs committee and was highly regarded by colleagues. funeral held Tuesday at Mount Morris home.
