About 100 attendees at Mr. and Mrs. Killmer's home presented a gold watch and offered farewell words. The evening included singing, games, ice cream, and cake.

Clinton Faces Railroad Division Change Threatening Jobs
The Clinton Herald reports a proposed Northwestern plan to cut passenger divisions between Chicago and Omaha, moving headquarters to Belle Plaine. The change would force removal of passenger crews to Chicago or Omaha, leaving freight crews unchanged. Reynolds Evangelical Church closes Quarterly Meeting with music
The Reynolds Evangelical church held a Sunday evening closing service of the Quarterly Meeting with special music led by Mrs. J. Kersten and Mr. Justus Wagner. Rev. Wm. A. Schutte spoke to the Y. P. A. and delivered a sermon. Miss Minnie Hewert presented flowers to Rev. Schutte and a bouquet to Mrs. Schutte. The audience, including Bradford and Ashton, was moved by the service. Thirty new Pullman sleepers were announced for the Northwestern road, and ministerial convention programs were prepared for Geneseo Illinois. Al Jordan of southern Ogle county visited with a tame wolf in the buggy en route to Dixon.

Assignment of Rural Mail Box Numbers Begins
Instructions will assign to rural mail boxes consecutive numbers starting with the first box after the post office. New boxes after the original numbering will receive the next consecutive number. Newly established routes will not be numbered until sixty days after service begins. Boxes will be painted green and carriers paid for painting. The Ashton Gazette, $1.00 a year.
