Public notice from Illinois Lee County announces the executor H A Bremmer will present final settlement before the Lee County Court in Dixon on November 8 1918 to seek a distribution order and discharge. The notice is dated October 22 1918 and accompanies Bradford Evangelical church notes for October 27 services.
Long roster of military ranks and units including Navy Marines Army Coast Artillery Engineers Cavalry Field Artillery and Ordnance with numerous surnames and unit designations. Mentions deceased and honorably discharged statuses among officers and enlisted personnel.
The nation will turn clocks back one hour at 2 a m on Sunday October 27 ending the plan to keep the present time through winter. After a Washington conference with Congress and War Board Chairman Baruch, the senate bill to maintain the current clock schedule through winter was dropped.

Illinois faces a maze of roads with 96 000 miles of highway many unpaved and poor. A 60 million dollar bond plan would finance a 4 800 mile inter connected network of hard roads over five years funded by auto license fees, not general taxes. The plan aims to connect farmers to markets schools and stores and to improve rural mobility.
Frank Wendt, brother of Mrs. Conrad Smith of this city and Mrs. Ella Palmer of Rochelle, married last Thursday at the Presbyterian parsonage in Rochelle. They visited Ashton before traveling to Rochelle where Wendt will work at the Whitcomb factory. Friends extend best wishes to the couple.

The influenza epidemic continues with widespread illness and many cases still active. Many初 who were initially affected have recovered, while a large number remain ill. Schools and churches stay closed and no plan exists to lift the ban into its third week.
Urgent appeal calls for girls to join a three year nurse training program at Dixon Hospital amid wartime labor shortages. Requirements include one year of high school, good health, and age over 19. after January 1, 1919, two years of high school will be needed. Clara B. Coppins chairs the Nurses Committee and can be contacted for enlistment.
The State Council of Defense recommends a uniform wage of six or seven cents per bushel for corn husking with adjustments for down or poor yield. It will run an advertising campaign to recruit huskers and stabilize prices. The plan aims to assure steady work and avert lost time from speculation on high prices. Even at six cents per bushel, a typical worker can earn four to five dollars daily in hot harvest days, with better pay for good corn.

Gehant learned Tuesday of his brother in law Bert Faltz’s death, who managed the honor convict farm at Joliet. Faltz, who married Louise Gehant, died of influenza. funeral and burial occurred at Somanauk yesterday afternoon.
