Shooting Tourney At Ashton Club Sets Strong Marks
The Ashton Gun Club event drew a large crowd with Cratty of Steward breaking 147 of 150 in the 160 third event, Kirkwood and Mayor Jeter close behind. Jeter swept the 75 100 and 125 target trophies, Gardner and Cratty also winning multiple shoots, while Maude Tyler seeks recovery from a rusty nail injury.

Henry S. Hart born February 12 1867 in Bradford Township Lee County Illinois grew under care of stepmother Kate Hart and joined Lutheran church Ashton later Evangelical in Bradford. He married Katie Albrecht February 17 1891 and had five children Mattie Clarence Ella Willie Arthur. Survived by mother sister brothers half siblings and wife and children. Died October 8 1916 after six weeks illness blood poisoning. funeral at his residence and United Evangelical church Ashton with interment Ashton cemetery.

Potatoes on Track in Ashton This Week
Two carloads of Minnesota potatoes are on the Ashton track for next Wednesday or Thursday with orders urged as stock is partly sold and potatoes are scarce. Mrs. Albert Benson and daughter Mrs. John Sadler of Rockford Iowa returned home after a two week visit with Mrs. Anna McCade.

Bradford Farm House Burns In West Bradford Fire
The old Bert Vogeler farm house west of the Bradford church burned completely Monday at nine. The Bogard family, occupying the tenant home, escaped with little belongings as the new house suffered fire damage to siding and windows. Origin of the blaze is unknown. Amboy Derby meets planned for Wednesday and Thursday with six races per day and $1500 in purses, plus band concerts. Gazette subscription price listed.

Ashton Welcomes President Wilson with Flags and Cheers
About half of Ashton’s population gathered at the North-Western depot to greet President Woodrow Wilson as his special train passed through at 9 08. Schoolchildren marched with flags while citizens and Postmaster Roesler lined the platform. Wilson bowed to the crowd from his private car and appeared pleased with the demonstration.
