Clarence Henert son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Henert had a close call when a bull broke from a damaged fence. The pony he was driving charged the bull, knocked Clarence down, and stood to defend him, saving the boy from being gored.

Infant Vivian Vogeler Dies at Five Months Old
Vivian Leona Carolyn Vogeler infant daughter of Charles C. and Laura J. Vogeler was born April 18 1918 and died Monday evening at 8 15 after baptism a week earlier. Funeral services were held at home and at the Methodist church with Rev EB Yeakel officiating.

Fifty Six Children Weighed and Registered in Drive
Fifty six children were weighed measured and registered by the Child Welfare Committee last week at Mrs. J. C. Griffith’s home. A doctor and nurse attended daily and records were kept. Another chance will be offered to those who did not appear. Uncle Sam urges full participation in the Ashton drive with a follow up on Saturday October 12.

Funeral Held for Christina Krug in Ashton
Christina C. Krug nee Vaupel born August 28 1861 in Bradford died September 27 1918 at home in Ashton aged 57. Interment in Ashton cemetery. She married George Krug and left daughters Emma C. and Minn now Mrs Wesley H. Venerich. Funeral at home and Presbyterian church with Rev Doede delivering the sermon from II Timothy 4 7 8. Interment followed.
