Oversea Red Cross entrant departs for year of service

Miss Eva Hunt left Friday for New York to sail overseas for Red Cross work in Europe. A Lafayette reception praised her service as she begins a year of relief and reconstruction duty after passing an oversea stenography exam last June. Local friends and officials joined the farewell with dinner and music.

Scouts Party Brings Boy and Girl Scouts Together

Doctor Bremmer Celebrates 67th Birthday Surprise

The Bremmer household hosted a surprise party Tuesday evening for Dr. Bremmer in his 67th year. A six oclock chicken dinner followed by chrysanthemums, a 67-candle cake, and tunes by Melinde Wiener and Lois Fee marked the festivity. Attendees included Mrs. Katherine Flexner and sons Bremmer and Raymond of Gary Indiana and many neighbors and relatives.

Temporary poultry group forms with big backing

A group of ten local poultry fanciers met at Will Schade’s business and formed a temporary organization with Schade as chairman and Geo A Putman as secretary. They pledged $100 in support and aim to stage a six day show for about 1000 birds next January, with advertising and judge appointments underway and merchants already pledging help. The report also notes church notices in Ashton and Bradford with upcoming services and a Thanksgiving program.

Songs in the Night at Presbyterian Church Next Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs William Reinke held in Rochelle

Matilda Louise Wehdt Reinke died at age 30 years 7 months 12 days at her Rochelle home last Friday. She was born in Rochelle May 3 1888 and married William Carl Reinke January 12 1905. She leaves husband three children and her mother plus three brothers and three sisters. Services were at Rochelle Methodist Church with Rev John N Dingle officiating. Interment in Lawnridge cemetery.
