Grandma Arnould Killed at the Ashton Depot

A large crowd attended the funeral of Grandma Arnould after she was struck and killed by a way freight engine near Ashton depot while en route to Rochelle to visit a hospital patient. The coroner’s inquest found death caused by the Train No 136 engine at 11 07 a m. She was 84 and survived by three sons and a sister with a long Ashton residency and St Mary’s Catholic church ties.

County YM C A Dinner and Program at Franklin Grove

The County Young Men’s Christian Association hosts an annual dinner and program on Thursday evening November 17 at 6 80. The event features short speeches by noted speakers reports by Hi Y Boys on camp and conferences a Pioneer Group demonstration and several musical selections. The Methodist ladies serve a 35 cent chicken dinner and the Boys Band of Bisers performs from 6 30 to 7 00 before dinner at 7 00. Ladies invited. Committee on Arrangement.

High Y Club Meeting Recaps November 1921 Event

The High Y Group gathered in the High School auditorium on November 7 1921 with most officers present except the president and vice president. Mr Conrad spoke reading and discussing a Bible chapter on wisdom physical condition and spiritual life. The group discussed pins for members and spent the rest of the evening on athletics songs stunts and hopes for a future quartet.

Funeral Wag Held Tuesday in Reynolds Township

A long time Reynolds township resident William Becker died November 12 1921 at age 79 after a long illness caused by poisoning and old age. He was born March 26 1842 in Heinebach Hesse Kassel came to America in 1865 and settled in Lee County Illinois. He married Katherine Mehthouse in 1868 and left eleven children with many grandchildren and relatives. Funeral services were held at his home and Reynolds church conducted by Rev. William Albrecht.
