Old Soldiers to Meet Again in Decatur G A R Encampment
The Grand Army of the Republic veterans of Illinois prepare to encamp in Decatur May 21 to 23. Dr. B F Stephenson conceived the G A R plan and the first post formed in Decatur in 1868. About 20 000 Illinois veterans may attend while 3 000 to 4 000 are expected locally. Col A C Mathews is favored for department commander. The national encampment will be at Saratoga Springs in August.

Party for Winners Delights Community at Opera House
Christian Endeavor members hosted a lively after contest party at the Opera House last Friday. Vandal Strikes Elm Planted by Sophomores at Ashton Institute
A vandal cut off every limb and the top of a young elm set by the Sophomore class on Arbor and Bird Day at Ashton Institute. The act, punishable by a fine up to 200 dollars, drew village sympathy and a search by the professor to bring the culprit to justice.
Memorial Day Services Planned by City Committees
