History of Lee County Trails Traced From Dixon to Chicago

Co Supt L B Neighbour describes Lee County trails as historic arteries linking settlers to mills mines markets and future roads. He notes old routes followed land lay intersecting streams and swamps with Rock River drainage and the Green River country shaping travel. Bandits of the Prairie haunted the area, and the prairie swamp landscape once formed a vast low country with few fording points.

Thank Offering Service at Methodist Church

The Woman's Foreign Missionary society leads the annual Thank Offering service next Sunday morning at the Methodist Episcopal church. A program includes scripture lessons, anthems, duets, leaflets on Persis Green and the deacon's talk, and a history of the offering performed by The King's Heralds and church choir.

Can't Find Ford to Repair for Santa Barbara School

President Frank H. Ball of the State Normal School Santa Barbara appeals to the press and Chamber of Commerce to locate a Ford car for the auto course. The class of eighteen students, eight women, seeks a damaged Ford for repair practice and practical work. Ball notes Ford’s rugged strength and simple maintenance as reasons the car is prized for student learning.

Sewer System Nears Completion At Geneseo

Ashton's sewer project nears finish with only eleven manholes left to build weather permitting. Filtration beds require sixty carloads of sand from Beloit to finish. Mr. Egan plans day and night shifts to move earth and send wagons. A birthday surprise for William Becker celebrated his seventy fifth year with relatives and friends. local notices mention church events and pastor appointments as Rev Landner takes charge of the United Evangelical church in Geneseo and other clerical moves are noted.
