McGowan Assaults Doctor Robbins in Lee County
Ex-sheriff M J McGowan pleaded guilty to assault and battery on doctor C A Robbins after a confrontation on First street near the stairs to the doctor’s office. He was fined ten dollars and costs totaling just over eighteen dollars. The incident stemmed from political animosity and McGowan’s defeat in last year’s sheriff race.
