Eliza Jane Fell a longtime Methodist Episcopal church member died at 86 after a fall illness. Born near Augusta Canada in 1880 she lived 65 years in Ashton and left a strong faith noted by church leader remarks and a large family. Funeral services were held at the home and church with Rev. Fred A. Graham officiating.

Miss LaVella Attig suffered a fractured skull and severe injuries when a runaway horse attached to her buggy ran near the Arthur Kersten farm. She was transported to Rochelle hospital and underwent surgery. doctors expressed little hope for recovery. Andrew J. Nickey, longtime resident and Methodist lay leader, died in Los Angeles after a surgical operation, aged nearly 66, with funeral details pending.
