Governor Dunne signed a new high school tuition act effective July 1. It requires county superintendents to deduct tuition payments for students attending high schools outside their district from state funds before distributing the remainder to districts. Tragic Holcomb Farm Murder Shocks Ogle County
Miss Bernice Gates, 16, was killed by farm hand John Spangler at Holcomb. Spangler then killed himself. Gates family connected to Mrs. Charles Bode of the city.
