County officials and business leaders from Dixon and Amboy meet to discuss adopting Wisconsin style patrol maintenance for Illinois roads. Philatheas Entertain at Presbyterian Church Social

The Philatheas drew the largest crowd yet at a Friday evening gathering in the Presbyterian church. The program featured living pictures and musical numbers by members including Hazel McCade Ruth Howell Roland Eisenberg and Lois Fee with a Sunday school orchestra led by A J Orner. Refreshments of pineapple whip cake and coffee followed as guests expressed doc appreciation.

State Knights Templar to Meet at Rockford

Rockford lands the Illinois Commandery Knights Templar for August 15 to 20. About ten thousand Knights from Illinois and national officers from Washington will attend the conclave at Shrine Temple with Governor Small and staff visiting. The event includes a grand ball and division parade at Camp Grant.

Auction Sale Draws Record Crowds in Ashton

The three week sale of the stock of dvens Moore Reed ended Saturday with the largest closing crowd in the history of the auction. Auctioneer Mr Powelson was praised for turning the immense stock into cash quickly. The closing sessions drew many visitors from afar as Ashton business life buzzed. The store will be replaced by G A Hamel and Bert Reed with a modern general merchandise stock. Evens plans to take over the Thame grocery store in March, while Moore has not announced his future plans.

Presbyterian Church Notes Highlight Active Sunday Schedule

Sunday school begins at 10 0 a m with about 150 attended and growing. Preaching at 7 p m invites all to worship. Christian Endeavor meets at 6 p m led by Miss Helen Hart on new committee ideas. Farewell Party for Mr and Mrs Ewald in Reynolds Township

Mrs Clarence D Sanders is very low at her home southwest of this city. She was taken ill about a week ago and despite care from two physicians and two trained nurses her condition grows more serious with few hopes of recovery yesterday.
