Still Has No Misgivings About State Office Incompatibility
Illinois appellate ruling affects Cook County officials including Homer K. Galpin and Downing with sine qua non incompatibility between holding municipal office and a state senate seat. Mayor Price of Elgin may have to resign either his mayoralty or his state assembly seat. The decision cites Article 4 Section 3 and writes that elected officials cannot hold both offices, with Downing and Price facing possible resignations and ongoing questions on other affected officials.
