Mrs Harlow E Chadwick Expires Sudden in Ashton

Mrs Harlow E Chadwick died suddenly Tuesday evening at about ten thirty in Ashton after years of frail health. Born Esther Starks in 1844 she married Chadwick in 1866 and lived in Bradford township Lee Center and Ashton. She leaves husband Harlow and two sons Edgar and Francis, plus two sisters and church ties with the Presbyterian church. Funeral arrangements await word from Spokane before services in Ashton.

Bazaar Was Grand Success By St John’s Lutheran Church

The St John’s Lutheran church bazaar and supper at the opera house drew a large crowd and raised 123.25 in receipts with expenses leaving 115.20 for the church. Fancy work sold well amid reasonable prices and many items were left for exchange at the parsonage.

Supervisors Not Entitled to Pay for Election Duties in Illinois

Illinois supervisors may not claim pay for delivering ballots or posting election notices. Attorney General Stead says fees are reserved for judges of election or legally designated officials. Only in single precinct areas where the supervisor is a judge of election does this affect some local supervisors.

Christmas Program at Presbyterian Church Featured by Choir

The Presbyterian Church presents a Sunday evening Christmas program by the church choir consisting of nine numbers. Christian Endeavor meets at 5 45 p m with the topic Be Born in Us Today, led by Miss Mary Charters. Santa Claus will visit the four smallest classes of the Sunday school Friday evening at the church.

Northwestern Sunday time card updates curtail two trains

A new Northwestern Sunday time card eliminates No. 21 Omaha in the evening and No. 4 fast eastbound. No. 12 Colorado Special will substitute for No. 4, preserving west to east mail service in the evening. No. 20 arrives at 11 44 a.m. two minutes early if not late, a common pattern.

Christmas Services Set at St John’s Lutheran Church

Special Christmas services will be held at St John’s Lutheran Church next Sunday morning. The service begins at 10 15 o clock with a sermon by Rev Gustav Mack. A preparatory service will be at 10 o clock.

Christmas Entertainment at Bradford United Evangelical Church

Christmas entertainment will be given at Bradford United Evangelical Church Sunday evening December 25 by the Sunday school members. There will be no preaching at Ashton church Sunday evening.

Infant Son Died of Twenty-Five Days Old

The infant son of Mr and Mrs Harry Schafer Glenn Marcus Schafer died Monday at twenty five days old born on Thanksgiving day. A short funeral service was held at one o clock Tuesday afternoon by Rev Gustav Mack pastor of St John s Lutheran church. The parents have the sympathy of their many friends and relatives in their sad hour.

Figures Reach the Millions in Illinois School Funds

The Educational Press Bulletin reports Illinois public instruction last year spent $1 685 708 more on teachers salaries than in 1908 09. Tables by Superintendent Blair show district wide growth in expenditures with women teachers receiving the largest shares. Total districts expenditures for 1909 10 reached $35 617 715, up $1 291 101, with funds allocated to new schoolhouses sites repairs and improvements and farms. Continued on Page 4.
