Memorial Tablets For Court House Adopted By Lee County
Lee county boards approve a $5,000 appropriation to erect bronze memorial tablets in the court house listing names and records of soldiers from all wars. A committee, including W. J. Edwards Amboy, Andrew Aschenbrenner Bradford, and David Spencer Dixon, compiles Civil War and later war veterans from Springfield for accurate alphabetical presentation. Seventeen counties have chosen similar bronze tablets, and Dixon discusses a separate community building proposal, likely costly and maintenance-heavy.
