Lincoln Highway receives $1,020,000 allotment for six counties
The Illinois State Department of Public Works announced a $1,020,000 federal and state funded grant for the Lincoln Highway through Dupage Kane DeKalb Ogle Lee and Whiteside counties. The counties must raise about $400,000 to $500,000 to cover the remaining costs and start construction only if all six counties commit.

Pastime Theatre Names New Manager After Retirement
George A. Putman retires Saturday night and Harry G. Wisman becomes manager. First show under new management may occur Wednesday with contracts for future films to be arranged this week. Admission will be ten and five cents and the theater may operate three nights weekly if patronage supports it. Pony contest at McCrea's grocery ended with Robert McCrea of West Brooklyn winning $116.50 in merchandise. Ashton People Attend Oakdale Camp Meeting Near Freeport
United Evangelical church members traveled by car to the Oakdale camp meeting near Freeport last Sunday. Over 2 000 people from northern Illinois attended, with Sunday school 1 097 and a collection of 111.25 dollars. Also noted is Ashton’s steeple jack Franklyn Hurd who replaced the tower lamp and bulb on the 175 foot high tower, proving nerve by ascending twice. Miss Glaydis Carnahan of Compton visited Miss Marie Strube for several days.
