Bridge re planking ends with runaway team crash
Highway Commissioner Clifford Knapp was seriously hurt Friday when a wagon drawing a runaway team snapped free of its wheels after work on a bridge east of the railroad on Clifford Lackey road. Knapp leaped to avoid a fall, breaking his right leg and injuring his ankle, and was later cast. He is resting, with weeks of recovery ahead. The accident occurred as Harold Lesslie finished the planks and prepared to head to town.
