Demise of Mrs Philip Brown in Ashton funeral noted
The community mourns Mrs. Philip Brown who died August 5 1904 in Ashton at age 35 years 11 months 24 days after marrying Philip Brown on November 24 1886. She leaves eight children seven sons and one daughter five brothers three sisters and a father. A Methodist since 1901 she was laid to rest in Ashton cemetery after a 2:30 pm service at the local church led by Rev. J R Hamilton. Relatives present included brothers Chas Welsh and sister Sarah Cortland and sisters Mrs Wenmouth and Mary DeKalb.

Amboy Freight Terminal Undergoes Large Reconstruction
Illinois Central starts major work at Amboy with 200 workers tearing down the old depot and building a new freight terminal and roundhouse extension. A pile driver drives piling for a Green River bridge as crews rush the project, drawing added labor and rising property demand. Ten cars of ties and eight cars of rails arrived this week.
