An obituary note reports Anne Elizabeth Hooper aged 63 died September 10 at Alford Forest Road residence after a long illness. It also records Thomas Wilson aged 79 dying September 10 at Balgownie Villa Hampstead, husband of Elizabeth Wilson.
Separate tenders will be received up to 12 Noon on 24th inst for shingling 24 chains on the Dip Road and 4 chains on Wilsons Road at 20 yards to the chain. Specifications at Road Board Office Methven. The lowest tender not necessarily accepted. By order G T Middleton Clerk.
Notice under Local Elections and Town Districts acts that two polls will be held at Oddfellows Hall Tinwald from 9 am to 6 pm on September 21 1910 to elect five Tinwald Town Board commissioners Nomination forms due to Returning Officer at Oddfellows Hall Tinwald before noon on September 15 1910 Alfred A Fooks Returning Officer.
Notice under The Town Boards Act and The Local Elections and Polls Act states a poll will be taken at Miss Crosbys House Cambridge Street Hampstead from 9am to 6pm on Wednesday 21 September 1910 for the election of seven persons as Commissioners of Hampstead Town District. Sir William Christie, Astronomer Royal since 1881, will retire and be succeeded by Mr F W Dyson, Astronomer Royal of Scotland. Christie, born 1845, is son of the late Professor Christie FRS. Dyson, Astronomer Royal of Scotland since 1905, was born January 1868.
The Archduke Leopold Salvator's airplane collided with Karl Warchalowski's at Neustadt. Warchalowski suffered a fractured thigh.
In Dundalk the Redman party captured a hall to announce speakers Mesars Tim and Manurise Healey. Tim Healey spoke to supporters in a smaller hall but was mobbed. hotel windows were smashed and several injured as police charged with batons. Six hundred extra police were sent to Dundalk.
General Botha proposed a small garrison artillery to form the nucleus of South Africa defense. He urged strong fortifications in Durban to the maximum extent.
The autumn maneuvres have begun with 70,000 men spread over a hundred miles in southwest England. Aeroplanes and wireless apparatus are being used.

An attempt to remove Taft's name again failed, and Roosevelt's name was later eliminated after several ballots.

The Temuka vicarage, unoccupied, was destroyed by fire early today. The house, insured for £500 with Alliance, had caught fire two weeks ago but was extinguished. This marks the sixth fire in Temuka within three weeks.
