Lodge Meetings Report From Masonic Hall Session

The ordinary meeting of the lodge met at the Masonic Hall on Thursday evening with Bro. Mes sent, N.G., presiding. Two members were reported on the sick list and £4 5s 8d sick pay was approved. An investigation committee of three members was appointed and three new members were proposed. The lodge closed in due form and members enjoyed dancing afterward.

Loyal Ashburton Lodge Sees Dues and Centenary Parade Planned

An ordinary meeting of Loyal Ashburton Lodge of Oddfellows Manchester Unity heard sick visitors' reports, noted six members remaining on the fund and nine declared off, with dues totaling £16 13s 8d for members and £1 5s 8d for a foreign lodge. A church parade for the Order's centenary is scheduled at St Stephen's Church on Sunday evening October 9 with all district lodges invited.

Sir William Christie, Astronomer Royal since 1881, will retire and be succeeded by Mr F W Dyson, Astronomer Royal of Scotland. Christie, born 1845, is son of the late Professor Christie FRS. Dyson, Astronomer Royal of Scotland since 1905, was born January 1868.
