Credit of the country shown by 22 million loan issue in Lords
Viscount Gsisuhen in the House of Lords extolled Britain’s credit as he described a new loan of £22,000,000 issued at £93 10s and now valued at about £97. He noted £159,000,000 borrowed since the war began, £122,900,000 of permanent debt, and contrasted 1888’s 3 percent consola with today’s strong market standing, asserting robust military and monetary resources.
