At Addington livestock market May 29 yarding was smaller due to wintry weather and sales were dull for store sheep while prime fat lambs and fat sheep sold well. Beef prices held, pigs declined, and store and dairy cattle sold poorly with limited demand.

May 29 yardings show heavy volume across sheep pigs and cattle. Prices declined from last week with best wethers 24s to 28s and heavy ewes up to 24s while lambs fetched up to 20s 3d. Pigs ranged from 40s to 60s for baconers and cattle saw bullocks to £10 and heifers to £7 10s amid a generally dragging sale.
The Dunedin market notes unsettled wheat due to scarce fowl wheat. Millers seek good to choice lines, with prime milling at 4s to 4s 2d and fowl wheat 3s 10d to 4s. Oats consignments light but selling locally, seeds quoted 2s 9d to 3s 1d, milling 2s 8d to 2s 9d, seed quality ranges 2s 5d to 2s 6d.
Clearing sale conducted at Wheatstone for the late Mr J Thompson shows strong demand. Spring cart sold for 26 5s, harness £3 10s, gig £6, sows £15s, £9 1s, £2 15s, porkers 12s, cows £1 2s 6d, £2 10s, £7 17s 6d, harness horse £5, sundries also sold at fair prices.
Government backed schemes work with Swadeshi to expand native industry. Co operative credit societies rise from 41 with £3600 capital in 1905 to 480 with about £33,000 capital in 1906. State contributions reach £4500. Accounts show £1800 net in favor of societies and no losses to members or depositors. Loans and interest are repaid with good punctuality.
Naval expert Count Ernest Reventlow argues Germany cannot wage a major naval war before 1920. He contends the fleet lags behind rivals, with seventeen battleships as "floating coffins" and only one dreadnought capable of defeating them, making war a costly, useless sacrifice of sailors.

An advertisement touts BHEUMO as a permanent cure for rheumatism gout sciatica and lambago claiming thousands have been helped. It promises relief by removing excess nic acid from the blood and notes availability at all stores with prices and durations listed in coded form.
Wainku firm W Bailey and Son report using three milking machines for the third season and milking 86 cows in 12 to 14 hours. A single man handles the machines and milk transport, one boy runs the bailer, and another strips with little work. They claim butterfat and milk quality remain high and cows show no ill effects. Bronchial cough remedy Woods Great Peppermint Core also advertised.
