Emigration Bodies Discuss Cooperative Action in Australia

A deputation representing Sir Clem ent Kinloch Cooke's Central Emigration Board and other emigration agencies met Mr Deakin to study cooperative action. Deakin proposed the Board take responsibility for arrivals while the Commonwealth Government would advertise and aid. Colonial speakers urged Australians in London to back emigration, and a central migration Board was favored to coordinate agents general and agencies.

Fines for breaches of award set by Arbitration Court

Wellington May 20 The Arbitration Court fined several breachers of the award. Hartshorn hotel keeper faced penalties for overtime and non unionist employment among others with fines of £1 and £2 plus costs. Jones restaurant keeper paid £2 6s for overtime non unionist and over hours. Gilmer head waiter head holiday fined £2. Searle, Mrs Muncaster and O Sh ea fined £1 and £4 respectively with costs.Wilson hotelkeeper fined £2 for half holiday.
