Purchases include 1000 bushels Waiariki at 5d per bushel and 1200 bushels Tuscan and Pearl at 33s 7d with one month storage. Flour prices up to £9 a ton with a 10s rise expected. Oats firmer and Gartons bought at a penny station. Qahafi firm with a line to the south at £4 2s 6d per ton at Ashburton.
London reports May 16: stronger demand for lamb with firm prices, weaker mutton with prices drifting to buyers, and improved beef demand. New Zealand lambs and mutton show varied quotes across Canterbury and North Island. prime crossbred lamb and mutton prices listed in heavy and light grades. Australian prices remain unchanged.

Wellington May 17 The Valuer-General flatly denies Captain Bell's charge that valuation figures were altered after sending to the Variation Department. The union will seek fuller information. Bell claimed a government valuer admitted changes reducing improvements by about 50 percent while increasing unimproved values.
Mrs Heatherley of North Sydney describes forty years of throat and nose swelling relief after rubbing Zam-Buk Balm. The advertisement claims the balm cures sore legs ringworms barcoo rheumatism neuralgia piles guts bruises burns and improves skin health. Prices listed 6d 3s 6d per pot.
