Rain fell on eleven days in April at Mount Somers with a high of 1 inch 21 points on the 20th. The monthly total reached 2 inches 67 points, with 3 inches 66 points averaged over twelve years. The month was generally fine and mild, but heavy rain occurred in the third week, followed by sharp frosts including an early one on the 4th. Stock and feed remain abundant.
A London cable dated May 2 reports the third series of wool sales opening with strong buyer turnout and lively bidding. Merino wools rise to par or up to 5 percent, fine crossbreds 4 to 10 percent, medium crossbreds 4 to 10 percent, and coarse crossbreds 5 percent higher than the last series.
