Leyland Line shares move toward American ownership
Circulars dated 28 April outline transfer of Atlantic trade to American buyers led by Mr Ellerman and Mr Goldsworthy. Provisional sale valued at £14 108 per share with an option for shareholders to sell at the same price by 26 May. Ellerman agrees to contract against North Atlantic trade for 14 years, while purchasers seek Mediterranean and Portugal routes. Shareholders expect a gain over £1,750,000 as control shifts abroad.
