Christchurch Market Reports Load of Stock Despite Wet Weather

Moderate entries at Addington market due to rain with lambs and fat cattle selling at firmer prices. Fat lambs 7s to 18s 6d. export mutton 15s to 17s 6d. store sheep weaker overall. Fat cattle uneven, steers £41 17s 6d top, cows £8, veal calves £3 19s 6d. pigs and store cattle slow but pigs sold well.

At Burnside today 168 fat cattle were yarded with fair quality and some extra good bullocks and heifers. Prices declined about 10s per head due to small butcher attendance. Fat shop yarding was large with freezing buyers and steady to firmer prices for sheep and lambs. Pigs showed weaker sales though forward numbers exceeded demand.
