The schooner Lessie is believed lost with about twenty lives after a squall capsized her. Typhoon Wrecks Ships in Japan Sea and Hong Kong

Last month a disastrous typhoon swept the Japan Sea damaging coastal shipping and fishing craft. In Hongkong many vessels were lost and the death toll is heavy. Big storms also plagued the Carolines with several island vessels missing. The Prinz Waldemar rescued five native castaways from an island vessel. the captain, the only white man aboard, leaped overboard and drowned. The castaways endured eight days without food and endured severe privations.
