Poultry event marks last appearance for government expert
At Oddfellows Hall last evening about fifty exhibitors joined the Society in a supper hosted by the committees. Mayor H Divis presided as Mr H D Hyde, Government Poultry Expert, announced his retirement from the role under retrenchment. He praised the department's work over ten years and said poultry farming can be highly remunerative when properly run. He plans to start his own venture while remaining connected to the industry. Speeches highlighted breeding for both fancy and utility poultry, noting the utility bird's continued relevance despite earlier doubts.
