Gatenby Sheep-Feeding Test Demonstrates Irrigation Value

The Forbes Agricultural Society recalls the 1902 03 field test led by Mr Gatenby Jemalong to prove lucerne irrigation could sustain flocks during drought. Two flocks totaling 562 merinos and crossbreds per paddock fed on cut lucerne showed minimal losses, weight gain, and healthy wool by February 1903 amid extreme heat and dust.

Teachers criticize School Journal at Hawke's Bay meeting
