At Addington yards on July 17 stock entries were fair across departments with good attendances. Store sheep sold well, fat lambs firmer, and fat sheep near last week’s prices. Pigs improved, especially stores. Cattle saw irregular prices but similar to prior week. steers £6 18s to £11 15s, cows £4 5s to £8 10s, veal calves 7s 6d to £2 17s 6d.

Cattle 253 yarded. demand softer with a broad decline of about 10s per head. Best bullocks 10-10s to 11s, extras to 11s, medium 8 to 8 15s, inferior 6 to 7. best cows and heifers 6 10s to 7, extras to 8 10s, medium 4 14s to 5, inferior 3 15s to 4 10s.
Wheat market firm with limited offers. Prime milling quoted 4s 7d-4s 8d and fowl wheat in demand at 4s 3d. Broken and damaged 3s 0d-4s 2d. Oats trading local needs. Prime milling 8s. prime bright seed 3s 1d. medium 2s 11d-3s. inferior 2s 9d-3s 10d. Sacks extra.
An inquiry into the wreck of the barque Woollahra will be held on Friday in Wellington. Captains Larkin and Gray will serve as assessors.
A Victoria street shop owned by Messrs Green and Coalbrook and occupied by Mr B Ramsey was burned last night. The building was insured for 376 pounds with the United and Ramsey's stock insured for 700 pounds with the Victoria.

The Argus reports Professor Sam Williams drove a landau blindfolded through Melbourne to a spot chosen by a select committee.
