Fire damages two Auckland buildings and Masterton storehouse

A fire in Pukekohe destroyed two large buildings one owned by S A Whyte and occupied by Vanzioni the other owned by Samuel Vaile Co and occupied by Wright. Vanzioni stock burned while Wrights furniture and fittings damaged. Insurance covered losses at Vaile Co 400 pounds and Vaxiaioni 300 pounds. A separate blaze near Masterton at Bansdowne destroyed a large storehouse owned by J G Williams with 5000 gallons of wine and extensive furniture and implements. Damages estimated close to 3000 pounds.

Hokitika Harbour Board considers 25000 loan for harbour upgrades

A Hokitika Harbour Board special meeting on January 23 discussed a 25000 loan for harbour improvements.
