Addington Livestock Market Ends With Large Yardings and Steady Prices
Christchurch February 19 at Addington market saw very large yardings of sheep and strong buyer attendance. Fat cattle were dull, fat lambs firm for well finished stock, and store sheep maintained value despite dry weather. Sheep prices ranged from 15s 3d to 17s 2d for tegs, with other weights 10s 6d to 18s. Cattle totalled 290 head with limited prime stock and prices roughly steady from the prior week. Veal calves fetched 50s to 53, pigs showed moderate demand with choppers 5s to 9s, heavy bacon 53s to 62s, and weaners 1s to 12s.
