The market shows sprouted wheat due to rains though samples are fair. Early truck sales occurred but prices fell. Tuscan and Pearl bid 3s 8d to 3s 8d, Fowl wheat 3s 6d to 3s 7d, expected drop soon. Oats demand weak for early heavy groats. milling cartons 1s 9d to 1s 9d, Algerians 1s 5d to 1s 7d, damaged oats destined for lower prices. oats chaff in better demand with bright, heavy chaff sought.

Senate appoints seven to probe rising cost of living

A Trades Hall meeting adopted a resolution condemning the railway Commissioners for profit over service and alarming over rising accidents. Markets show new wheat offered this week with several sales at 3s 10d to 4s 1d delivered in Timaru for Velvet and Red Chaff. Tuscan wheat is weathered and rejected by mills and farmers. Oats offer from 1s 6d to 1s 1d delivered, but buyers prefer old oats, keeping new seasonal business light.

Land Sales Reported for Golden Point Property Near Palmerston

Messrs Guinness and LeCrew with Wright Stephenson and Co report selling the Golden Point property for Mr J M Foohey. The 115 acres of freehold land plus 1 1/2 acres base land and 2687 acres grazing country with 2000 sheep cattle horses and farming plant were transferred as a going concern to Mr W R MacKay of Albury at Macrae's near Palmerston South.
