At Addington today a heavy yarding across sheep and fat cattle drew large attendance. Store sheep fell, prime lambs and fat cattle sold well, and pigs remained strong. Yardings set records for fat cattle with mixed demand across store cattle and dairy stock.
Burnside yarded 177 fat cattle with bulls to £10 10s and mediums to £8, cows and heifers £4 to £6 10s, store cattle 250, scarce grass keeps prices low. Sheep 2459 penned with best wethers 17s 6d to 20s 3d, prime workers up 1s, porkers and baconers sold at quoted rates. pigs 165 penned.
Wheat trading begins as new crop is offered with samples showing fine quality. Millers buy northern grain up to eight ton trucks while Taieri wheat fetches higher prices. Fowl feed sells 8d to 36 4d per unit, store goods inferior at 34 to 3s 2d. Qats unavailable from crop but fair local demand exists with best fund 23rd to 2s 6d and medium around 25 3d.
