Scout Cadet Plan Seeks Joint Defence Education Accord

New Zealand Insurance Company Posts Yearly Results

Auckland February 1 The balance sheet for the year ended November 30 shows net income from premiums interest and rent of 696080 pounds. After a dividend of 16000 pounds in August the credit balance is 84401 pounds. Directors propose 10000 pounds to reserve from 24061 available, and a dividend of two shillings per share subsuming 15000 making four shillings per share for the year. Paid-up capital reserved and undivided profits total 754861 pounds after the proposed dividend.

Paper yarn mills spread across Europe for rug making

Mills for spinning yarn from paper exist in Germany and France with another starting in southern Sweden. The paper yarn is reported as well suited for rugs and carpets. Carpets woven from unspun paper tape are being produced in Sweden, and Consul-General E. D. Winsley notes the homewoven product appears very satisfactory.

Thirteenth annual meeting of New Zealand Portland Cement Co

The thirteenth annual meeting in Dunedin reports profits for the year of £8717 17s 8d and a year end balance of £11,334 7s 8d. Directors recommend a half year dividend at a stated rate, depreciation of £1100, transfer to reserve fund £1061 10s, vessel insurance fund £125, leaving £888 7s lld forward.

Wool Exports Drive New Zealand Wool Market Confidence

The Dunedin sale shows exporters buying most wools for the Continent with French and German spinners, while speculators buy little. Growers can sell on the spot for profit, with 60 000 to 60 000 bales offered in Dominion this season and about 170 000 sold at Christchurch or privately. The NZ clip totals around 450 000 bales, signaling strong domestic demand.

Administration of Anaesthetics Report Seeks Law Changes

At the winter meeting of the General Medical Council the Anaesthetics Committee urged restricting anaesthetic administration to qualified personnel.
