Independence and Amnesty in Steyn Letter to Kitchener
A correspondent forwards an August correspondence attributed to ex President Steyn replying to a banishment proclamation. Steyn argues the British sought to invade the Republics since 1896 and says self defense justified the war, asserting British leaders planned invasion and that their cause has advanced despite losses. He links to Jameson Raid accusations and urges independence for the two Republics and support from their Cape Colony allies.
