Wellington Council Acts On Laws Practitioners and Labour Disputes Bill

The Wellington Council met at 10 o clock and appointed managers from the House to handle amendments to the Law Practitioners Bill. The Labour Disputes Bill passed its second reading in the House by a large majority and was read a third time without challenge. J Rigg opposed the measure defending workers' right to strike while others argued for harsher handling of strikes under arbitration. The bill seeks to restore workers' confidence in the Arbitration Court and treat workers as co partners.
