The Board of Managers met to review finances and staff matters. Highlights include a £23 6d debit, a proposed director salary rise to £300 from July 1913, pay increases for the cooking instructress, and appointing processes for dress making and cookery probationers.
An adjourned lodge meeting ended after a brief run of business with no major motions. Members dispersed from the meeting location without incident.
The ordinary meeting at Willowby Taylor Memorial Lodge LO G T met in the schoolroom on Thursday evening with Bro. B Steel presiding. The C T resigned due to leaving the district and Bro. Wm Harding was elected to fill the vacancy. The group transacted routine business and shared an hour of harmony.
Ashburton slight School Old Pupils Association committee met with Mr R Keli presiding. Membership rose from 170 after a campaign and a permanent selection process for the Pooks Memorial Tablet was approved. The Board of Selection includes the Mayor and school officials. resignation of J Trevor Thomas noted with thanks. Officials to attend the school break up next week and more old boys urged to attend. Treasurer reports net funds about £5 for the new year after liabilities. current credit balance 12s 6d. Accounts totaling £1910 5s passed for payment.
Large attendance at the quarterly Loyal Ashburton Lodge of Odd Fellows meeting in Manchester Unity. NG presided as accounts were passed and sick dues totaling £7 18s 4d noted for four members on the sick list. One candidate was initiated and a new rule regarding extinguishment at age 65 of a portion of sick and funeral fund contributions was forwarded for registration.
Longbeach Road Board met with directors Lill Stoddart Taylor and Body. Officers approved transfers of leases, discussed bridges drains roads and cemetery upkeep, and budgeted 151 pounds 19 shillings 6 pence in payments.
The Technical College will award eight annual Domestic Science Scholarships next year to country pupils who wish to board in town and study domestic science. Each scholarship values £10 annually, potentially rising to £20 in special cases, awarded after head teacher reports. A new wing at the Girls High School was opened to improve teaching facilities and accommodation.
