Commercial report from London notes firm demand for wool with Merinos and crossbreds steady while faults weaken. Wheat cargoes are neglected with a small price dip. American visible supply stands at 116 078 000 bushels.
At the London wool sale on December 3 there was strong competition for the best merinos while slower demand affected shabbier lots. Cross breds remained unchanged and the series will close on December 9.
The Government Statistician reports West Australian wheat yield at 13,869,000 bushels averaging 13 bushels per acre and oats at 2,824,000 bushels averaging 16 bushels per acre.
Wellington from Bristol and Dominion Producers Association reports first cargo of Ruapehu butter sent via London earned 127s 9d per cwt. Market for butter remains steady and cheese demand firm.
At Addington, December 3, large entries amid wet weather. activity limited. Store sheep in demand, fat lambs scarce, prices fell about 2s. Pigs at late rates. Store pigs to 4s 6d to 15s 8d. wethers 16s 0d to 18s 0d. ewes 17s 2d. Fat lambs 14s to 20s 6d. woolly wethers 27s. prime shorn wethers 21s 6d to 25s 6d. Cattle: steers £2 7s 6d to £11 10s, cows £6 to £10 5s. Fat pens include choppers £3 to £4. heavy baconers 67s to 64s. porkers 41s to 44s per cwt. Large stores 35s to 40s. mediums 26s to 34s.
Burnside yarded 168 fat cattle with competition driven by short supplies. Bullocks topped £13-£15 and extras to £17 6s, heifers to £13 10s, best sheep 28s 8d to 38s, best wethers 26s to 38s, best ewes 25s to 97s 6d, lambs 23s 3d tops. Lambs: 93 penned with demand strong, top 23s 3d and 20s to 21s 6d for others.
