Wool and Wheat Markets From London July 1800 Report
The London colonial produce report notes wool sales closed after July 3 to 20 with 125000 bales sold and 52000 bales exported for the United States. Prices fell for several grades though late Continental demand steadied, and future series were fixed including 250000 bales for next arrivals. Wheat futures declined amid good harvests and softening Continental demand, with English wheats at 299 per 480 pounds. Frozen meat and beef markets weakened under heat and dock delays, Canterbury and Australian sheep markets slow with lower buyers and prices.

Demand Slow as Meat Imports Decline Reflecting Port Closures
The slowdown in demand coincides with a 2344 per atone price for American beef. Home ports closing against Argentine animals have reduced hoofed sheep imports to 262,536 in the first half of this year from 405,801 in the same period 1899. Argentine imports alone are down by about 100,000 head versus last year. Fresh meat imports have risen but not to match the drop.
